Extraversion and Introversion

Rather than viewing these as fixed measurable character traits, consider them a part of a natural life rhythm that ebbs and flows.

“Everyone possesses both mechanisms, extraversion as well as introversion, and only the relative predominance of one over the other determines the type.”
– Carl Jung
Extraversion and Introversion as a pendulum swing
Picture a pendulum that swings back and forth.
For many of us, the pendulum spends relatively more time on one side.
You will find that you are similar in some ways and different in other ways from people with the same top personality style as you. But, if you share the same preference for extraversion or introversion as well as the same 1st and 2nd most dominant styles, then you may find that you think and operate a lot alike.

Vital Energy Reserves

Our focus here is not on the big life events that can cause major stress. Let’s analyze the micro-stressors of daily life. The small hassles that can add up over time contributing to us feeling drained of our energy and having low tolerance to frustrating circumstances. Taking an inventory of what drains you or gives you energy can help you be more resilient and increase your empathy for others.

Energy drainers and gainers

Instead of doing whatever you can to avoid the things that drain you, try adding some energy-gaining activities to your life.

You will be surprised by how adding a short duration of an energy-gaining activity can charge you up and make energy-draining activities feel so much less challenging.
Another way of thinking about this is – when we operate within our dominant nature, we feel stronger and when we operate outside our dominant nature, we feel weaker.
